GIRLS ONLY Sushi restaurant opened in Akihabara

On Oct 1, 2010, a new kind of sushi restaurant opened in Akihabara, Tokyo, Japan – A girls-only sushi restaurant with the concept of “Fresh and Kawaii”

Akihabara is known for the center of Japanese subculture. They are famous for a Japanese idol group AKB48, maid cafes and anime stores in addition to electronic stores. So only-girls sushi restaurant is not “unusual” among hard-core Akihabara goers.

The name of sushi restaurant is “Nadeshiko Sushi”.

Nadeshiko means “pure yet strong Japanese women”.

The restaurant website says that they have a several “real” sushi chefs working in the back. But in the store-front, you only see Japanese girls making and serving sushi. Eventually they hope that girls would train and make sushi by themselves.

They try to bring “kawaii” but quality sushi experience to the customers. Therefore upon arrival, you MUST order 3,000 yen Omakase menu. Omakase means “the restaurant’s choice.” They want you to eat the fresh and oishi sushi on the market of the day first. Omakase menu includes ten (10) kinds of sushi. And then, you could add additional sushi.

They also have limited number “deco sushi” and “deco sushi lunch box” as take-out. “Deco” is short abbreviation of “decoration”.

This is another reason to visit Akihabara if you are around…
